Flamingoo Foods needs a new irrigation system to provide water more frequently for Tanzanian rice farmers across Southeast Africa because of water insecurity, farmers relying on seasonal rainy days, and the fact that a traditional irrigation system is expensive. Farmers are in urgent need of water to grow their crops more rapidly to prevent food insecurity and starvation.
By Week 7 of the quarter, design a complete solar-powered irrigation system using polytubes that meets Flamingoo Foods’ technical requirements and can support at least one pilot rice farm.
By Week 9, we will have a prototype of what we want to build for our clients, have a model of it made, either hand-drawn, and come up with a list of materials needed and all the different platforms and tools we will need for the project, so the budget lines up with the work we do.
By the time the project is complete, evaluate environmental impacts and include at least two mitigation alternatives in our final design.
